Gerald W. “Gerry” Henderson came to Marion in 1998 as superintendent of Unified School District 408. Gerry grew up in Lakin, a small town southwest Kansas, and has lived in the state except for a five year tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. Gerry and wife Cathy have four children and five grandchildren. Gerry’s hobbies include golf, singing and keeping the old house on South Lincoln in livable shape. His involvement with the Marion County Resource Center/ Food Bank grew out of a commitment to the Shared Sunday mission of Marion Presbyterian Church where during the past four years the congregation has on one Sunday each month provided food or cash donations to the Food Bank.
Jan Helmer was born and raised in Marion. She and her husband Darin have two children. Jan likes to walk, read and volunteer. Jan works at Marion County District Court. Jan’s grandmother was very involved at the Food Bank while she was alive and her mother is still active at the Marion Resource Center/Food Bank. Jan become the treasurer for the Food Bank in 2011 and remains the treasurer now.
Janet Brant has lived in Marion since the 4th grade. She has 3 children, 5 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She loves to read. She is site manager for Marion Senior Center, in her 13th year. She was the coordinator for the previous Food Bank for 31 years.
Kevin Fruechting was born and raised in the Marion community. His church has been a longtime supporter of the Food Bank, and joining the Board in 2018 was a way for him to continue his service to this worthwhile organization. He currently is the recording secretary for the group. He and his wife Lori have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Kevin loves photography, hiking, yardwork, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Becky Howard moved from Wichita with husband Jesse Howard and their son. They Love the real sense of Community that our small town has. Becky believes in showing kindness and creative change through charitable action and loves the Food Bank motto of "We are all neighbors helping neighbors.
